Next to technical skill and process knowledge is a certain posture towards life and work that can help people be better designers. I believe that on most days, I strive to live in that posture. It sounds corny but it's true.

At the risk of coming off as derivative or even prideful, here are the traits that drive me as a designer:

1. I’m curious. I like to tinker and experiment. I stress-test my ideas.
2. I’m a learner. It seems cliche but it’s true. I work to sharpen my skills through tutorials, blogs, and books. I regularly attend meetups and conferences. Recently, I attained a UXC from NNG and CSM through Scrum Alliance.
3. I believe data is a designer's friend. Whether quantitative or qualitative, data should inform and empower design decisions. Data doesn’t scare me - wrong data and wrong conclusions about data, however, do scare me.
4. I seek other perspectives and I'm okay with disagreeing with others. The status quo shouldn’t get in the way of innovation.
5. I like to connect the dots. Systems thinking is a learned part of my posture towards design and toward the relationships by which design gets done.
6. I have an entrepreneurial spirit. I’m scrappy and resilient. I don’t give up easily.
7. I’m okay with uncertainty. I’ve learned to be comfortable with ambiguity or nebulous goals. An entrepreneurial spirit and wide skill set empower me to get things done.
8. I love non-design stuff. Design doesn't rule my life, but it's influenced by my other hobbies like music-making, motorsports, and gaming.

I've been a creative most of my life, but have been a professional designer for over 15 years.

Today, I'm a UX designer, having worked in product design, web design, broadcast design/animation, and content design for social media. My multimedia background informs my sensibilities as a UX designer.

I try to be principled but not so dogmatic in my approach to design. Each business context and each design problem is different, so I adjust my process when necessary.

When not working, you might find me relaxing with buds over delicious food and drink or watching a good movie. I’ve been thinking of buying a set of chef knives, but haven’t made the jump yet!
