Summary

Two different Marketing Managers approached the UX team for a redesign for the Amazon Cash homepage for their respective regions. One manager represented North America (NA) and the other represented Italy (IT).

The request was primarily born out of anecdotal feedback from a retail partner, who cited confusion on one of the primary steps that end users needed to successfully use the product.

Background and Discovery Info

Not much was known upfront about problems customers and other users face when delivering on Amazon Cash's value proposition. A design audit and quick usability study revealed that many of the steps were confusing and that very few actual customers understand the product offering.

Additionally, Amazon Cash isn't quite owned by the Product Management team, and the legal team, who ultimately approves what words we use to describe the offering, was very conservative with onscreen verbiage. So, there might be challenges in making progress in certain areas.

There was no official branding or art direction for the digital presence for Amazon Cash. I improvised by using the in-store style guide, previously created by a visual designer, to help create a direction for the website.
